E&B Studio is looking for an experienced Lead Technical Artist to be a part of, and lead our team of technical artists. We want someone that can be a role model and inspire their team.  A Lead Technical Artist that’s experienced in current game engines and can help us build the art tools, shaders and pipelines required for a AAA game based on Unreal. We are heavily invested in setting a new standard for procedural workflows therefore it is important that this is something that drives you.

You are a specialist in your field, combining artistic skill with technical proficiency in programming and scripting. This person has experience and understanding of current game engines, ready to build high-quality tools the Art team will use. This role requires a broad knowledge covering several artistic fields needed for current games, potentially including environment, character, VFX, UX, lighting, shading, and rendering.

The Lead Technical Artist will apply their knowledge to guide our Tech Artists in tool development, shaders and the overall Art team from pre-production to full production.  This role requires understanding the importance of communication, art workflows and pipelines have on the efficiency of an art team and a drive to find ways to bring an efficient workflow to multiple areas of art production. This person makes strategic decisions that benefit the studio’s art development while understanding emerging trends and technologies in video game content and how to best apply them. The ideal candidate has experience both as an artist and in technical roles.

What You'll Do:

  • Coordinate internal R&D for art tools, production pipelines, and content creation
  • Lead and mentor other Tech Artists on the team
  • Partner with the Art Director in building a strategy and schedule for Art tool and pipeline construction as well as the Technical Director to define art-related performance targets and budgets and oversee the creation of tools to measure progress
  • Work hands-on to build new art tools and/or shaders
  • Analyze tool usage by the Art team and continually refine processes
  • Identify new tools and technologies to improve content production

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years experience in art tools, shaders and pipeline creation for interactive entertainment
  • Ability to foster a dynamic and collaborative team environment
  • Broad knowledge across several art subject areas, including environment, character, VFX, UX, lighting, shading, and rendering
  • Technical experience with tools-related programming, scripting and/or shaders
  • Thorough understanding of video game development, art processes, and production pipelines
  • Experience in Unreal Engine is required
  • Experience leading a team in the creation of outstanding art tools
  • Excellent eye for graphical quality and knowledge of technical techniques used to achieve visual targets
  • Ability to foster a dynamic and collaborative team environment
  • Excellent decision-making capabilities and interpersonal skills
